Obituary for James Holbrook

Bolton – James A. Holbrook passed away on February 4, 2017 at St. Mary Health Center in Worcester, from complications of diabetes. He was 81. Jim leaves his devoted wife of 57 years, Mary (Gibbons) Holbrook; his loving children, James A. Holbrook Jr. of Clinton; Lauri Mallet and her husband Paul of Boylston; his grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew, Kristen, Connor and Mitchell; his brother, John Holbrook and his wife Carolyn of Stow; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Ann Richardson. Born in Waltham, Jim was the son of James and Astrid (Anderson) Holbrook . He was a lifelong resident of Bolton. Mr. Holbrook graduated from Hudson High School class of 1954. Jim owned and operated Bolton Pump and Supply from 1982-1998. Jim and his father-in-law built a summer cottage in York Beach, Maine as well as his log cabin home in Bolton. He was a former member of the Bolton Board of Health and the Bolton Volunteer Fire Department. Jim’s hobbies included bowling, music, singing, snowmobiling and ice fishing. He enjoyed the Wednesday meetings at the Bolton Public Library for Roger Breeze’s “Local History.”
Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St. Northborough. The funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 11th at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Parish, 808 Main St. Bolton. Burial will follow in South Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202 or 800-342-2383.
