Obituary for Kenneth Torok
Kenneth J. Torok, Sr., 78, passed away peacefully at home after a period of declining health, his loving wife Dorothy A. (Nelson) by his side. Ken was born in Woodbridge, NJ, son to the late Joseph and Esther (Nagy) Torok.
Ken was the first in his family to go to College and worked his way through school, earning both a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University. As an accomplished engineer and manager, he built an impressive portfolio of work experience working on satellites, airplanes, submarines, and other systems at industry giants such as Raytheon, BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin, Kollmorgen, RCA, and General Electric. An example of Ken's work, an antenna he designed, can be seen on a weather satellite hanging in the California Space and Science Museum in Los Angeles.
Ken enjoyed nature and the great outdoors, sharing his love of fishing and hunting with his family. Trips to local streams in search of fresh trout for dinner were a frequent pastime with his young sons. Ken was an avid collector, always looking for a yard sale or bargain while driving with Dottie. He appreciated unique or clever tools, and examples of fine craftsmanship. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time at their cottage in Ipswich.
Besides his wife, Ken leaves behind three sons, Kenneth J. Torok, Jr. and his wife Dr. Judy Law-Torok of Palos Verdes Estates, CA, Michael Torok and his wife You Chung of Cheshire, CT, and Daniel Torok and his wife Maureen of Spring, TX. He also leaves two children of Dorothy's, Mark Stoddard of Northborough and Lori Andrews and her husband Scott of Douglas.
In addition he leaves behind seven grandchildren of which he was very proud: Jason Torok, Alex Torok, Kayleigh Torok, Julia Torok, Ryan Torok, Autumn Torok, and Thomas Andrews; a sister, Jo Ann Witkus of New Jersey; and a niece, Angela LaVoie Kljunich.
His memorial service will be private. Please consider making a donation in Ken's name to a charity of your choice. Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough is honored to assist with arrangements. To leave a condolence, please visit www.HaysFuneralHome.com.
